Supergirl Introducing Mr. Mxyzptlk This Season – IGN

DC Comics’ impish supervillain Mister Mxyzptlk will make his Supergirl debut in 2017 during the show’s second season.

The CW confirmed the character’s upcoming appearance to ComicBook.com. The infamous Superman foe will be featured in two episodes. Details regarding what sort of role Mr. Mxyzptlk will play in Supergirl have yet to be revealed.

Mr. Mxyzptlk was created by writer Jerry Siegel and artist Ira Yarborough in 1944.

There’s also no word yet on which specific episodes the villainous imp will appear, and an actor has yet be cast for the part.

For those unfamiliar with the comics, Mr. Mxyzptlk is a trickster imp from the 5th dimension who can manipulate reality and often stirs up trouble for Superman. In order to thwart his nefarious efforts, Mr. Mxyzptlk is often tricked into saying or spelling his own name backwards, which sends him back to the 5th dimension where he remains confined for at least 90 days.

Prior to the character’s upcoming appearance in Supergirl, live-action portrayals of Mr. Mxyzptlk were featured in Smallville and The Adventures of Superboy, as well as Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman.

The fall finale of Supergirl: Season 2 aired earlier this week. Check out IGN’s “Medusa” review for our thoughts on the episode.
